We ensure a hundred percent control of manufacturing process to guarantee you the best outcome. AUTINE is a small workshop where a tool takes every step of making process, starting from delivered material until ready – made and packed instrument. In our metal working workshop we do forging and forge – welding, as well as laminating axes and knives, hardening and grinding. At the wood and leather manufacturing part we produce handles for axes and chisels, treat them with linseed oil and bee’s wax, polish them, make leather sheaths and handle the tools.

Materials
Damascus steel
Use: Knives
AUTINE’s Damascus steel is made of 240 layers of carbon and nickel steel forge - welded and twisted together. This combination of materials ensures good hardness (62 HRC) as well as elasticity which excludes deformation and breaking of blades. This steel in not only beautiful and maintains consistent against deformations at remarkable hardness but also maintains its good cutting quality for a long while.
Laminated steel
Use: Knives, Axes
Two kinds of steel are used when crafting John Neeman’s laminated steel axes and knives. Blades of tools are made from high carbon content instrument steel. This material possesses fine resistance to wear, tenacity and hardness (58-59 HRC). While the back part of axes and back parts of knives are made from low content carbon steel that provides elasticity and protects from cracking the back parts of an axe.
Alloy tool steel
Use: Chisels, Axes
Alloy tool steel keeps its sharpness long after processing and is shockproof enough, providing their renowned qualities to chisels and axes made by us.
Uddeholm Elmax stainless steel
Use: knives
Legendary Swedish stainless steel is one of the best materials we know and that is available for us for manufacturing knives. It is hard (61-62 HRC), elastic and tenacious. Knives made of this material will be perfect for using in places where the blade cannot be cleaned up right away after using due to different circumstances.
Wood and leather
Currently our basic supply includes several wood and precious wood sorts for knives handles. We work with dark and elegant wenge, deep brown rosewood and curly birch. Handles of axes and chisels are made of elm, which is one of toughest and hardest trees we have in Latvia. This wood has been a traditional choice for making tool handles of local craftsmen for a long time.
